**All Stars 2008**

It's that time of year again! Teams have been selected and All Stars are now getting underway! Last year, both the Junior and Minor League All Star teams made it to regional play, and this year is sure to bring plenty of competition, excitement, and fun! The All Stars from last year are still online here: www.bluefieldball.com/allstars2007 .

Friday, June 20, 2008 - The Bluefield Minor League All Stars blew by UKV in 4 innings by a final score of 15-5.

Saturday, June 21, 2008 - Bluefield got four runs in a huge two-out rally to win 5-3 over Trap Hill!

Monday, June 23, 2008 - The Bluefield All Stars fell to the Princeton American All Stars by a final score of 10-20 in 5 innings.

Tuesday, June 24, 2008 - Bluefield falls to a 2-2 record with a loss against Oak Hill by a final score of 4-19.

Friday, June 27, 2008 - Bluefield beats Peterstown 17-10 to improve to a 3-2 record.

Saturday, June 28, 2008 - Bluefield blew by Sophia 10-2 on the way to the regional playoffs! This is the second year in a row that the Minor League All Stars of Bluefield have made it to the regionals. The team is flirting with history, as they are only 2 wins away from the state championship!

Monday, June 30, 2008 - Bluefield took a 9-4 loss to the undefeated Princeton National All Stars.

Tuesday, July 1, 2008 - The Bluefield Minor League All Stars end their season with a 12-3 loss to the Princeton American All Stars. They finish with a 4-4 record. Congratulations to all the players and coaches for making it to the regionals and representing Bluefield well!

Major League

Friday, June 27, 2008 - The Bluefield All Stars beat Trap Hill by a 10-run rule, with a 12-1 final score. Logan Lineberry threw a one-hitter in Bluefield's winning effort. Lineberry, Chase Illig, and Andy Holbrook all got multiple hits.

Saturday, June 28, 2008 - Bluefield got a 7-5 victory against the Beckley West All Stars.

Monday, June 30, 2008 - Bruce Beggs pitched four solid innings for Bluefield in their 14-4 win against Sophia. Danny Miller put up a home run for Bluefield in the first inning.

Tuesday, July 1, 2008 - Bluefield shut out Hinton in 4 innings by a final score of 16-0! Bluefield is now 4-0 in pool play. They take on the Princeton Nationals on Monday, July 7th.

Monday, July 7, 2008 - Bluefield has secured a spot in Regional play with a 13-9 victory over the Princeton Nationals! Chase Illig, Logan Lineberry, and Danny Miller all put up home runs for Bluefield. Chase went 2-for-3 with a 2-run home run, a single, and a walk; Logan went 2-for-2 with a 2-run home run, a single, and 2 walks; Danny went 2-for-3 with a solo home run and a double. Bruce Beggs, Jonathan Casto, Andy Holbrook, and RJ Bourne also contributed hits.  Bluefield will play their final game at the district level on July 8th at 6 PM vs. Oak Hill!

Wednesday, July 9, 2008 - With two outs in the bottom of the 6th inning, bases loaded, the game was rained out just before Danny Miller got to bat. The score was reversed to what it was at the beginning of the 6th inning: 4 to 1 Oak Hill. Now it's time for REGIONAL play! Bluefield's first game in the regionals will be Saturday, July 12th at 6 PM in Beckley.

 

 

 

 

 

 

Saturday, July 12, 2008 - Bluefield lost to the Princeton Nationals 5-11, eliminating their chance of moving on.

Sunday, July 13, 2008 - Bluefield went out with a bang, defeating Shady Spring 15-4 in their last game of the year. Congratulations to the Bluefield Major League All Star team for all of their accomplishments!

Junior League

Saturday, June 28, 2008 - The Bluefield Junior League All Stars defeated Shady Spring 9-8! Donnie Robbins hit a walk-off double to finish the game. Andrew Siegel and Drew Simon led Bluefield at the plate, each going 3-for-4. Robbins and Brad Fox went 2-for-4, with 5 RBI's among them. Bluefield's next game is Monday at 8 PM at Princeton's Gardner Fields against Central Greenbrier.

Monday, June 30, 2008 - Bluefield defeated Central Greenbrier 12-3. Brad Fox led Bluefield at the plate, going 3-for-3 with an RBI. Donnie Robbins, Drew Simon, Andrew Siegel, and Aaron Pressley also had hits. Bluefield plays against Princeton tonight (July 1st) at 6:00 PM.

Tuesday, July 1, 2008 - Bluefield had a 6-0 lead over Princeton going into the 6th inning, but could not hold on to it as Princeton came back to win 7-6. Bluefield plays their final game of pool play on Wednesday at 8:00 PM against Ronceverte-Fairlea.

Wednesday, July 2, 2008 - Bluefield fell behind by 1 run in their 12-11 loss to Ronceverte-Fairlea.
